Man, woman shot to death in Gardena; motive still unknown

Detectives are investigating the deaths of a man and a woman found shot in Gardena, police said Thursday.

The victims, whose names were not released, were discovered Wednesday evening in the 15800 block of South Normandie Avenue near West 158th Street, according to a Gardena police statement.

Police said the female victim was lying in the front entrance to an upstairs apartment. She was taken to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where she underwent surgery but died. The male victim was found just inside the apartment and died at the scene.

Police said the reason for the shooting was unknown.
