November 25, 2011 |  8:50 am

Los Angeles police detectives have been sent to Studio City to investigate the death of a man found in a water fountain of a small shopping center early Friday.

An officer with the Los Angeles Police Department’s North Hollywood station said the city fire department first responded to a call, just after 7 a.m. Friday. The shopping center, at 12265 Ventura Blvd., houses a California Pizza Kitchen and Jamba Juice.

"At this time they're still investigating, and no sign of foul play has been determined," he said, adding that there were no obvious signs of trauma.

L.A. City Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said the call came in at 7:13 a.m.

"A passerby discovered the decedent and reported it," he said. "The person was sadly beyond any help and was declared dead at the scene."

Humphrey said the man was an adult male, but so far he had no information about his age or the circumstances of his death.
