November 8, 2011 |  7:37 am

Crime reports are up significantly for the latest week in 16 L.A. neighborhoods, according to an analysis of LAPD data by the Los Angeles Times’ Crime L.A. database.

Eleven neighborhoods reported a significant increase in violent crime. Vermont-Slauson (A) was the most unusual, recording 16 reports compared with a weekly average of 8.5 over the last three months.

Lake Balboa (J) topped the list of seven neighborhoods with property crime alerts. It recorded 23 property crimes compared with its weekly average of 10.7 over the last three months.

Two neighborhoods triggered alerts for both violent and property crime.

Alerts are based on an analysis of crime reports for Oct. 29–Nov. 4, the most recent seven days for which data are available.
