Pedestrian struck and killed by motorist in Huntington Beach

A pedestrian crossing the street on Thanksgiving Day was struck and killed by a motorist in Huntington Beach in what authorities are ruling an accidental traffic collision.

The man, 48, was hit as he walked across Beach Boulevard south of Edinger Avenue about 7:47 p.m. Thursday, said Lt. Gary Faust of the Huntington Beach Police Department. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the vehicle was not arrested, Faust added.

A spokesman for the Orange County coroner could not release the name of the victim pending family notification.
