Won Chin, 52, of Gardena is believed to have shot a woman to death before committing suicide in a house in the 15000 block of South Normandie Avenue, said Larry Dietz of the Los Angeles County coroner’s office. It is unclear if Chin owned the residence.

The woman, in her mid-50s, was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead later that evening. Dietz said his office had not confirmed the victim’s identity.

Dietz said that it was unclear how the two were related and that authorities were continuing to try to determine a motive.
