Life in the Navy is not all fun and games.

The aircraft carrier Carl Vinson, whose flight deck served as a venue for a high-profile college basketball game on Veterans Day, will deploy next week for a seven-month mission to the Western Pacific and Persian Gulf, the Navy announced Wednesday.

The Vinson, based at North Island Naval Air Station in Coronado, Calif., will deploy Wednesday with the guided-missile cruiser Bunker Hill and guided-missile destroyer Halsey.

In its last deployment, the Vinson served as the platform for the at-sea burial of Osama bin Laden, who was killed by Navy SEALs during a raid on his Pakistan hideout.
