Earthquake: 3.1 quake strikes near Borrego Springs

A shallow magnitude 3.1 earthquake was reported Tuesday afternoon 10 miles from Borrego Springs, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 4:25 p.m. at a depth of 6.2 miles.

According to the agency, the epicenter was 17 miles from Desert Shores, 19 miles from Salton Sea Beach, 33 miles from Palm Springs and 63 miles from San Diego.

In the last ten days, there have been two earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
