Cal State faculty union calls one-day strike at two campuses

November 7, 2011 |  1:32 pm

A California State University faculty union on Monday announced a one-day strike next week at two campuses to protest an impasse on a salary dispute.

The governing board of the California Faculty Assn. authorized strikes on Nov. 17 at Cal State East Bay and Cal State Dominguez Hills after 93% of members voted to approve the walkouts, officials said.

The impasse stems from the university administration's rejection of a compromise proposal to pay previously negotiated raises.

The faculty union plans to conduct informational picketing on Tuesday and Wednesday at Cal State's 23 campuses.
