Barricaded suspect in custody, found in neighbor's closet
A man who barricaded himself in a Carson condominium complex for several hours was arrested Monday night after being found in a neighbor’s closet, officials said.
The man, suspected of assault with a deadly weapon, broke through the drywall of a neighboring condo unit, Capt. Mike Parker of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department wrote on Twitter.
The Scottsdale Estate complex on Kingswood Lane was evacuated.
A Sheriff’s Department special weapons team removed twin toddler girls from the condo where the suspect was hiding, Parker said in an interview. They been reunited with their mother.
The man now in custody is suspected of being involved in a shooting Saturday in the 23000 block of Avalon Boulevard in Carson in which a person was hit in the arm, Parker said.
