Two teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of murder after the bodies of a man and a woman were found in shallow graves in Long Beach and Norwalk.

A 15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy were arrested late Wednesday night.

The victims may be a couple related to the girl. They were reported missing from their home in Compton on Tuesday "under suspicious circumstances," said Lt. Mary Leef of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The woman's body was found Saturday partly buried in a vacant lot in Norwalk after a passerby noticed a foul smell.

Family members of the missing couple pointed investigators to the teenagers.

Late Wednesday night, the suspects gave detectives information about the location of one of the missing people, leading authorities to a vacant lot on Atlantic Avenue and Artesia Boulevard in Long Beach.

Coroner's officials recovered a man's body from a shallow grave at the site.

The suspects also gave detectives information that linked them to the woman's body found in Norwalk, Leef said.

The names of the suspects were withheld because of their ages.

Coroner's officials are still trying to identify the bodies to determine whether they are the missing couple. The causes of death had not been determined.
