Brush fire threatens home near Malibu [Updated]

Image: Map shows approximate location of a brush fire north of Santa Monica. Source: Google Maps More than 60 firefighters battled a brush fire Thursday that threatened a home north of Santa Monica, fire officials said.

Los Angeles fire officials said the flames were headed uphill on the 15100 block of West Pacific Coast Highway. Three helicopters and 61 firefighters were battling the one-acre blaze.

No homes had been evacuated. There were no reports of injuries, and no word on what started the fire.

[Updated at 12:41 p.m.: Officials report the fire is now out and the cause remains under investigation.]
