Yorba Linda man killed mother and brother, police say
A 24-year Yorba Linda man was charged Thursday in the fatal stabbing of his mother and brother inside their home.
Eder Giovanni Herrera is charged with killing his 53-year-old mother, Raquel Estrada, and 34-year-old brother, Juan Herrera, inside their Trix Circle home Tuesday night. Raquel Estrada's body was found on the kitchen floor and Juan Herrera's was in a hallway. Police discovered the bodies after receiving a tip at 11:30 p.m. that evening.
Prosecutors allege that Herrera fled the home and stayed overnight at a friend’s house nearby. Herrera quickly became a suspect and was arrested Wednesday morning by Brea detectives as he drove away from his friend’s home.
Herrera faces two felony counts of murder with a sentencing enhancement for the personal use of a deadly weapon. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 52 years to life in state prison.
Herrera is being held in lieu of $2-million bail.
