Actress Reese Witherspoon was recovering at home after being struck by a car Wednesday morning while jogging in Santa Monica, authorities said.

Witherspoon suffered minor injuries in the accident, officials said.

She was hit while jogging west on Georgina Avenue near 20th Street, the Santa Monica Police Department said. She was taken by an ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Witherspoon won an Oscar for her role in "Walk The Line."

The driver was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, police said. Authorities told KTLA News the driver was 84 years old and remained at the scene after hitting Witherspoon.
