Crime alerts for Sylmar, Atwater Village, 8 other neighborhoods

Crime reports are up significantly for the latest week in 10 L.A. neighborhoods, according to an analysis of LAPD data by the Los Angeles Times’ Crime L.A. database.

Six neighborhoods reported a significant increase in violent crime. Sylmar (A) was the most unusual, recording 10 reports compared with a weekly average of 4.6 over the last three months.

Atwater Village (G) topped the list of four neighborhoods with property crime alerts. It recorded 10 property crimes compared with its weekly average of 4.4 over the last three months.

Alerts are based on an analysis of crime reports for Sept. 11–Sept. 17, the most recent seven days for which data are available.
