Girl killed by mother's SUV
A 3-year-old girl was killed Wednesday when she was accidentally struck by her mother's sport utility vehicle in Orange, police said.

"Right now we're treating this as a tragic accident," Sgt. Dan Adams of the Orange Police Department told The Times.

The accident occurred about 4:25 p.m. in the 800 block of Adele Street. The girl was taken to a trauma center, where she died.

The unidentified mother was driving the SUV, which apparently rolled forward and struck the girl, police said.

The Police Department's Major Accident Investigation Team was investigating.
