Brush fire forces closure of most of Interstate 15 in Cajon Pass
A brush fire in the center divider of Interstate 15 in the Cajon Pass has forced the closure of most lanes on the heavily traveled highway, creating a traffic nightmare for people headed to Las Vegas or the Colorado River for the three-day weekend.
All southbound lanes have been shut down, and two lanes are closed northbound, Caltrans officials said. All northbound lanes may be shut down shortly, the agency said in a statement.
The fire broke out about 12:30 p.m. Caltrans officials are urging drivers to take alternate routes, if possible.
