2 high-ranking Montebello police officials relieved of duty

Adding to the turmoil in Montebello, the Police Department’s two highest ranking officers below the chief of police have been relieved of their duties, pending an investigation into their conduct, officials said.

Capt. Greg Wilsey has been placed on administrative leave and Capt. Brian Dragoo has been assigned to desk duty, sources said.

The city’s newly hired police chief, Kevin McClure, said he could not discuss details because it is a personnel matter, but said the city manager would be hiring a firm to conduct an outside investigation.

The city is facing a federal investigation into its use of Housing and Urban Development Department money, and is seeking a short-term loan so it doesn’t run out of cash in its general fund.
