Search resumes for kayaker missing along Orange County coast

Kayaker

The Coast Guard on Friday morning resumed its search along the Orange County coast for a 53-year-old kayaker who hasn't been seen since Wednesday, authorities said.

Crews were searching from the air for the missing man, who family members said had intended to take his kayak out near Newport Harbor for a couple of hours, authorities said. The family also told Coast Guard officials that the man usually doesn't wear a life jacket.

A search of the shoreline and open ocean with helicopters and patrol boats Thursday turned up nothing.
