Parolee arrested after stolen boat runs aground in Seal Beach

A drunken parolee suspected of stealing a 32-foot boat and running it aground in Seal Beach was in custody Thursday, authorities said.

John Maxedone, 51, was arrested about 10 p.m. Wednesday after authorities responded to a call about a boat coming ashore, said Jim Amormino, spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff's Department. Deputies discovered that Maxedone was “driving under the influence,” Amormino said.

Further investigation revealed that Maxedone was on parole for stealing cars and that the boat had been stolen from Long Beach, Amormino said.
Maxedone is expected to be charged for driving under the influence and possession of a stolen boat. He  also faces a parole violation, Amormino said.
