Mother threw baby off hospital parking structure, police allege
Orange police arrested a La Habra mother in connection with the case of a baby who was clinging to life after falling from the upper stories of a parking structure at Children's Hospital of Orange County.
Orange police said they arrested Sonia Hermosillo early Tuesday without incident, accusing her of intentionally throwing her 7-month-old son off the parking structure.
The infant was in critical condition at a local trauma center, police said.
Police said in the statement that the boy's father called police and reported the boy missing Monday evening.
The Orange Fire Department said it received a 911 call at 6:19 p.m. from someone saying a baby was possibly thrown from the parking structure. Police said the caller saw the baby falling from the parking structure at the hospital.
Soon after the baby was discovered, police found the woman's car.
"There was a child seat in the vehicle, but no baby," police said in a press release.
Hermosillo, 31, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
