August 15, 2011 |  8:22 am

La_cres A jogger in La Crescenta was punched in the face and robbed of his iPod by three assailants during a late-night run, police said.

The unidentified jogger was running home about 10 p.m. Wednesday on Ramsdell and Encinal avenues when a black BMW pulled up next to him and its passengers asked for directions, Sgt. Ray Harley of the Crescenta Valley sheriff’s station said, according to the La Cañada Valley Sun.

As the jogger gave them directions, they asked to borrow his cellphone. When he said he didn't have one they got out of the car and chased him down, punching him several times in the face. One of them took his iPod, Harley said. The jogger suffered only scratches. The assailants remained at large.
