Arraignment postponed for mother in dropping death of baby
Arraignment of Sonia Hermosillo, 31, the La Habra mother who allegedly dropped her 7-month-old infant to his death from a hospital parking structure, was postponed Monday until next month, officials said.
Hermosillo was scheduled to enter a plea today in Santa Ana but the hearing was put off until Sept. 30, an official in the Orange County district attorney's office said.
Hermosillo is charged with murder and other offenses in connection with driving to the fourth floor of Children's Hospital of Orange County on Aug. 22, pulling her son's protective helmet off and dropping him over the side of the building. Noe Medina Jr. died several hours later at a hospital.
The baby's father, Noe Medina, has begged for leniency, saying his wife was ill with post-partum depression.
