Two men arrested for allegedly stealing school signs in Temecula

Two men were arrested in Temecula early Tuesday morning after they were caught stealing signs from Temecula Middle School, authorities said.

Temecula police arrived at the school at 42075 Meadows Parkway about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday after a report that a group of backpack-wearing bicyclists had entered school property and was prowling the grounds.

Officers said they found metal signs from the school in the possession of Kristopher Riegle, 20, of Temecula, and Bret Jacobson, 20, of Arcata, and arrested on suspicion of theft.

Two other suspects fled on foot, authorities said. There was no information available about their descriptions.

Riegle and Jacobson were booked and later released. They are set to appear in court Sept. 23.
