San Diego authorities probe death of 70-year-old jail inmate

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department homicide detail is investigating the death of a 70-year-old inmate at one of the county jails, the department announced Monday.

Investigators were summoned to the George Bailey Detention Facility at 2:30 a.m. "The nature of the injuries and evidence at the scene indicate a possible homicide," according to a statement issued by the Sheriff's Department.

The inmate's name was not released.
