Kidman WIll and Kate drew the A-list at a downtown L.A. movie palace Saturday night for an event honoring British film.

Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lopez, Tom Hanks, Barbra Streisand as well as CBS head Les Moonves and director Judd Apatow were on hand for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts's "Brits to Watch" event. William is president of the academy.

"I'd like to thank Colin Firth for my opening line: I have a voice,'' he said, referring to Firth's role in "The King's Speech."

Catherine and William arrived a couple of minutes past 8 p.m. Exiting a black Range Rover to cheers from the crowd, the two walked leisurely down the red carpet, shaking hands and graciously smiling to a clutch of lucky admirers.

William wore a tuxedo and Catherine wore a light gray chiffon dress with a glittery white band at the waist.

Royal2Actress Zooey Deschanel said before the royal couple arrived that she was concerned about the state of the downtown streets.

“This is such a big deal and there are, like, parking lots filled with trash all the way here,” she said. “I hope they helicopter them in past that.”
