Rancho Cucamonga man allegedly kills wife, then tries to kill self
Police received reports of gunfire at 9:30 p.m. Sunday at a residence in the 12500 block of Arlington Lane in Chino, but when officers arrived, the suspect and the victim were gone, said Chino police spokeswoman Michelle Van Der Linden.
Authorities put out a bulletin to neighboring agencies, and Ontario police reported a woman matching the victim's description had been found with a gunshot wound.
She was taken to a hospital and was pronounced dead, Van Der Linden said.
The suspect's car was spotted in Rancho Cucamonga, close to where the couple lived, and was pulled over by San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies.
During the stop the suspect shot himself, Van Der Linden said. The man was in stable condition at a hospital, she said.
The names of the husband and wife, who authorities say have been married for decades, had not been released.
