Middle-school teacher accused of having sex with teenager retires

A middle-school teacher charged with having sex with a 17-year-old boy in Huntington Beach has retired, officials said Tusday.

Gay Davidson-Shepard, formerly of Mesa View Middle School in the Ocean View School District, was placed on administrative leave in April, following her arrest. Her retirment became effective in May, the Huntington Beach Independent reported.

Her husband, Daniel Shepard, also was charged in the case. He retired from Westminster High School in 2009.

They are charged with having sexual relations with a teenager.
