Michelle Obama, George W. Bush at Betty Ford memorial
First Lady Michelle Obama and former President George W. Bush are among several dignitaries in attendance at a memorial service in Palm Desert on Tuesday for former First Lady Betty Ford.
Bush escorted former First Lady Nancy Reagan down the aisle of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church moments before the service began.
Sitting side-by-side in the front row of the church were Reagan, Bush, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, Obama and former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, who is one of three people who will deliver eulogies. ABC news commentator Cokie Roberts and Geoffrey Mason, director of the Betty Ford Center, are also scheduled to speak.
Former California First Lady Maria Shriver was also in attendance.
A military honor guard carried the casket into the church.
