L.A. men charged with pointing lasers at aircraft

South L.A. laser arrest. Click here for a  neighborhood profile. Two Los Angeles men were charged with felony counts Wednesday in connection with pointing laser beams at aircraft Monday.

Floyd Atkins, 22, and Alvaro Jimenez, 20, were arraigned Wednesday afternoon and pleaded not guilty, the Los Angeles County district attorney's office said.

The pair are charged with pointing green laser beams at aircraft and were arrested after a Los Angeles Police Department helicopter crew spotted the beams near East 29th and Paloma streets in Historic South-Central, authorities said.

If convicted, the men could face up to three years and eight months in state prison.
