U.S. Forest Service truck crashes, six injured

July 4, 2011 | 10:43 pm

A U.S. Forest Service truck carrying nine firefighters crashed Monday night just outside the Angeles National Forest, injuring at least six and trapping two people in the wreckage, authorities reported.

Nathan Judy, a fire information officer, said a bus used by brush fire crews crashed shortly after 9:30 at Mt. Emma and Cheseboro roads in the Palmdale area. He said at least six firefighters sustained minor injuries. Judy did not know the condition of the others.

Los Angeles County firefighters, using medical evacuation helicopters, were trying to remove the crew members from the bus. The cause of the crash was not determined.
