The royal couple started their day with a visit to Inner-City Arts in downtown Los Angeles. They also attended a job fair for veterans at Sony Studios in Culver City.

They were accompanied to the airport by British Ambassador Sir Nigel Sheinwald, Lady Julia Sheinwald and Los Angeles British Consul General Dame Barbara Hay.

Kate Jenkins, a British Airways ambassador who shook hands with the couple, said they were elegant.

"They're so friendly," she said.
