Dismembered body found in Pico Rivera backyard [Updated]

Detectives are investigating the death of a young male found in Pico Rivera, who one man says was dismembered and the body parts stuffed into a garbage bag.

The body was found Wednesday evening in the 8500 block of Pico Vista Road, according to Deputy Suzie Ferrell of the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.

A man at the scene told KTLA-TV that the victim was a 19-year-old gang member whose body was found cut up inside a garbage bag in the backyard of a house.

Neighbors told KTLA that the victim had begun renting the house from an older man about a month ago.

[Updated at 9:08 a.m.: Authorities confirmed that human remains were found. The Los Angeles County coroner's office has not yet identified the deceased, and authorities said they have no suspects.
