Carmageddon: Time-lapse video captures Mulholland Drive bridge demolition

July 18, 2011 | 10:38 am

Check out this time-lapse video made by Times video journalist Jeff Amlotte, who camped out in his pickup truck along the 405 freeway to monitor the partial demolition of the Mulholland Drive bridge.

Bridge Amlotte used two video cameras. One recorded six frames every two minutes and shot continuously for 48 hours. The other was a "roaming" camera. A total of 21 different angles were shot throughout the weekend.

The video is set to "Flight of the Bumblebee" from the opera "The Tale of Tsar Saltan" by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.

For complete details of how Amlotte made the video, check out the Framework blog.
