Carmageddon: Taiwanese animators poke fun at L.A.

July 14, 2011 |  2:08 pm

"Carmageddon" hype has reached the other side of the Pacific, with Taiwanese animators depicting how "L.A. is set for chaos this weekend."

The video, narrated in Mandarin and subtitled in English, shows angry drivers honking horns, celebrities tweeting from their steering wheels "LAPD asks me 2 tweet 405 DOWN," and JetBlue Airways' marketing stunt offering $4 flights between Burbank and Long Beach, which the video describes "as convenient as it is planet-unfriendly."

The video ends with the reopening of the freeway, but with commuters still stuck on the 405's notorious jams.

The minute-long video was produced by Taipei-based Next Media Animation, which was known for animating a scuffle between Tiger Woods and his wife as news of his infidelity broke.
