One Alhambra police officer was killed and another seriously injured Sunday morning when their vehicles collided in an intersection.

The officers were responding to a call at 2:30 a.m. for a robbery in progress when they crashed at the intersection of Garfield Avenue and Main Street, said Lt. Dan Rodriguez.

Both officers were taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital where one later died, Rodriguez said.
