Woman dies in early morning house fire in Bel Air area

A 79-year-old woman died in a house fire early Saturday in the Bel Air area, authorities said.

The fire was reported about 3:30 a.m. at the two-story house in the 2100 block of North Basil Lane, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The victim was found in an upstairs bedroom, officials said. A 50-year-old man, also in the house, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze in less than a half-hour, officials said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
