Shot fired at school bus in San Diego County

June 20, 2011 |  3:05 pm

A shot fired from an unknown location struck a school bus Monday morning on the Rincon Indian Reservation in  northeast San Diego County, the Sheriff's Department said.

No one was injured by the 22-caliber round that struck the glass panel of the bus door. Two adults and six children were in the bus run by a federal program for low-income students.

Neither the driver nor other adults on the bus realized a shot had been fired until they saw the round on the floor.

The driver then drove to the sheriff's substation, and deputies were dispatched.
