Man killed in eight-vehicle crash on 101 Freeway

June 15, 2011 |  8:43 am

Some lanes of the northbound 101 Freeway remained closed Wednesday morning near Camarillo after a 48-year-old dump truck driver was killed in an eight-vehicle collision.

A California Highway Patrol official said traffic remained backed up in the area and he urged motorists to use alternative routes.

The accident occurred shortly after midnight in a construction zone just north of Camarillo Springs Road and involved three dump trucks.

The victim has not been identified, but a California Highway Patrol spokesman said the man was from Sylmar.
