Lane closures set for 110 Freeway work

June 15, 2011 |  8:54 am

Arroyoseco
Drivers hoping to use the 110 Freeway this weekend might want to reconsider after Caltrans announced upcoming lane closures slated for Friday night.

Between 9 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Saturday up to two lanes of the northbound Arroyo Seco Parkway—formerly known as the Pasadena Freeway — will be closed between the 5 Freeway and Glenarm Street.

Up to two lanes of the southbound freeway will also be closed within the same boundaries.

Crews will replace existing metal beam and temporary barriers with decorative concrete barriers designed to better reflect the architecture of the neighboring communities, Caltrans officials said. New lighting also will be installed.

The upgrades are part of the $17-million Arroyo Seco Parkway Improvement Project, which is intended to spruce up the 71-year-old highway, reduce maintenance costs and maintenance-related delays, and improve safety for motorists, officials said.
