Suspect, witnesses sought in fatal Lake Forest stabbing

June 11, 2011 |  5:06 pm

Stabbing Orange County Sheriff's deputies on Saturday were looking for a man they believe stabbed two men outside a Mexican restaurant in Lake Forest, killing one and leaving the other in critical condition.

Deputies were called to the parking lot of the Albatros Mexican restaurant around 2 a.m because of a fight involving several patrons and found two men had been stabbed, sheriff’s spokesman Jim Amormino said.

Elvis Kechechian, 26, of Mission Viejo was taken to a local hospital, where he died a short time later. The other victim, who was not identified, was in critical condition.

Deputies believe the incident began when four men and three women were involved in an argument inside the restaurant that continued outside. An unidentified man stabbed the two victims and ran away, Amormino said.

Deputies were looking for the man and for several witnesses who fled before the deputies arrived.

“We’re asking those people to come forward,” Amormino said. “They’ve been witnesses to a murder.”

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call 1-866-TIP-OCSD.
