Southern California is in for a hot Fourth of July weekend, according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service.

The Los Angeles area will see slowly rising temperatures through the week, with highs in the L.A. Basin in the low 80s the next few days, reaching the high 80s by Friday. Temperatures will hit the mid-90s in the valleys and inland areas.

Over the weekend, the basin will see temperatures in the 90s while valleys hit triple digits, according to the weather service.

Temperatures at the beaches will be cooler: in the lower 70s during the week and mid-70s during the weekend.
