LAPD seeks information in Highland Park homicide

Click here for a Times homicide database. Los Angeles police Tuesday night were seeking information in the slaying of a 27-year-old man in Highland Park.

Alfonso Garcia died Tuesday morning from a single gunshot  to his upper torso, the Los Angeles Police Department said. Garcia was placed on life support after he was shot Sunday evening.

The attack occurred about 7:45 p.m. in the 300 block of Newland Street, the LAPD said.

Since January 2007, at least 23 homicides have been reported in Highland Park, according to a Times Homicide Report database.

Anyone with information about Garcia's slaying is asked to call detectives at (213) 847-4263. Anonymous tips can be left at (800) 222-8477.
