Girl, 14, critically injured when vehicle backs into storm channel in Sunland

Click here for a Sunland profile. A woman driving a vehicle in Sunland on  Tuesday night backed it into a 10-foot storm channel, critically injuring a 14-year-old girl who was in the car, officials said.

The accident occurred about 10 p.m. near Oro Vista Avenue and Hillrose Street, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

The 18-year-old driver sustained minor injuries when the vehicle tumbled into the channel, the department said. Both victims were taken to local hospitals.The cause of the accident was under investigation.

No other details were immediately available.
