Four dead in possible murder-suicide in Chula Vista, authorities say

The California Highway Patrol and Chula Vista police are investigating a possible murder-suicide after finding the bodies of a man, woman and two children, authorities said Wednesday.

The CHP Wednesday morning found a man's body near the interchange of Interstate 805 and California 54 in southern San Diego County, authorities said. A car registered to him was nearby.

In trying to contact the other registered owner of the car, officers went to a three-story townhome in Chula Vista, authorities said. Inside they found the bodies of a woman, a girl and a boy.

The woman was on the floor of the home and the children were in their beds, according to Chula Vista police.

Causes of death and the identities of the dead have not been disclosed. The woman had not been to work in several days, officials said.
