Father, teenage sons identified in apparent murder-suicide in Chula Vista

The victims of an apparent murder-suicide in Chula Vista have been identified as Thomas Fuchs, 49, and his sons Sean,15, and Kyle, 13.

Police said notes left at the family home indicated that Fuchs fatally shot the teenagers, set several fires around the home, and then killed himself. Fuchs was distraught over financial problems and a custody battle with his ex-wife.

Neighbors reported smoke coming from the home about 1:30 a.m. Firefighters quickly dosed the flames and found the bodies.

Fuchs' ex-wife arrived at the home on Bonita Verde Drive as fire and police investigators were combing through the burned out portion of the house. She was led away in a police car.

The murder-suicide is the third in recent weeks involving families in San  Diego County.
