1 dead, 2 wounded in shooting at Venice park

Click here for a Times database of Venice homicides One person was killed and two others were wounded Wednesday afternoon in a shooting at a park in Venice, authorities said.

The shooting was reported about 4:10 p.m. on the field of Penmar Park in the 1300 block of East Lake Street, said LAPD spokeswoman Rosario Herrera.

One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene. The two others were taken to a hospital but their condition was not known, nor were the circumstances of the shooting.

At least 15 homicides have been reported in Venice since January 2007, according to a Times Homicide Report database.
