Pedestrian killed in Hollywood

Hollywood Los Angeles police are investiging a fatal pedestrian accident Monday morning near the busy Hollywood and Highland intersection.

A man driving north on Highland Avenue at 4:48 a.m. struck another man who was crossing the street north of Hollywood Boulevard, said Rosario Herrera, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department. The victim, approximately in his 30s, died at the scene, she said.

Highland Avenue was temporarily closed to investigate the accident but has reopened, she said. The driver was not cited.
