Failed 'Rapture' predictor Harold Camping recovering from stroke
Camping, 89, fell ill late Thursday at home and was admitted to a hospital, said the woman, who declined to give her name.
"He is recuperating and doctors are pleased with his progress," she said.
Camping gained worldwide notoriety for predicting the world would come to an end May 21.
The prophesy prompted some of his devoted followers to quit their jobs and get rid of their belongings in anticipation of the fated day.
When it failed to occur, some in his large Family Radio Network flock expressed disappointment but others said he probably just had the wrong day.
Indeed, within a few days Camping announced a new Rapture date: Oct. 21.
Staff members at the ministry's headquarters said they will be playing pre-recorded programs by Camping until he is well enough to get back on the air.
