Estranged husband arrested in slaying outside Irvine day-care center

John Rand Agosta  A 35-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing his estranged wife in a shooting outside a day-care center in Irvine, police said Thursday night.

John Rand Agosta of Orange is suspected of shooting Alejandra Hernandez, 29, in the 18000 block of Via Sienna in the Turtle Rock area of Irvine, Irvine police said.

Hernandez, also of Orange, died of her wounds during the attack that occurred around 2 p.m. Thursday.

Detectives at the scene were able to develop leads that led authorities to Agosta, the Irvine Police Department said.

No motive had been established for the attack.
