Eight arrested in alleged gang-rape of two girls in Ventura County

June 7, 2011 |  8:55 am

Police were seeking possible additional victims Tuesday after seven men and one boy were arrested on suspicion of gang-raping two girls in Ventura County.

The suspects reportedly met the girls on social networking sites and lured them to a home in Santa Paula, where the victims were allegedly gang-raped.

The suspects were identified as Esteban Oseguera, 18; Isaac Ek, 19; Joseph Sandoval, 18; Jonathan Gaona, 20; Dion Mendoza, 19; Carlos Ek, 22; Adrian Garcia, 19; and an underage boy whose name was not released.

Police identified most of the suspects as being gang members or having gang ties.

The charge against them include kidnapping, rape, conspiracy, street terrorism, unlawful intercourse with a minor and rape while the victim was asleep, according to a police statement.

Seven of the suspects were arrested Friday. Garcia was arrested Sunday morning.

The arrests stemmed from alleged assaults on two girls, one in March and the other in April, the Ventura County Star reported.

Based on the investigation, it is "reasonable to assume additional sexual assault victims may exist," police said in a statement.
